What this does
Scanners spit out entire packets. Portals want page 2. This page uses split/extract so you do not photograph a screen or print-and-rescan. Range mode is the usual path; per-page ZIP is for when each page goes to a different field.
Merge landings build packets. This landing disassembles them. Same PDF family, opposite job.
Anyone whose “upload passport” field rejected a 15-page immigration PDF.
Over-sharing a scan is how extra IDs leak into a vendor’s blob store. Extract is a privacy tool as much as a convenience tool.
Page indexes are 1-based here. If your viewer shows a cover as page i and the PDF index disagrees, trust the viewer’s page box after extract.
Household scans often include a passport, a utility bill, and a child’s school ID in one feed. A KYC form that asked for “address proof” does not need the passport spread. Extract the bill page, look at it, then upload. If the scan is skewed, extract will not deskew it — rescan that page if the text is unreadable.
When a portal wants each annexure as its own file, use each-page output and rename the results before you upload. Leaving page-3.pdf as the filename is how you attach the wrong annexure at 11:58pm. This tool does not OCR; if you need a searchable PDF, run OCR in another app after you extract.
When to use it
- The form wants pages 1–2 only.
- Each annexure must be a separate file.
- You need page 7 as its own PDF for email.
How to
- Upload the PDF. The full scan.
- Choose range or each page. Range for one extract; each page for many fields.
- Download. Check you have the right page.
- Upload to the form. Keep the original packet.
Features
- Range extract. From–to pages as one PDF.
- All pages ZIP. One file per page when forms want splits.
- Local. ID scans stay on the device.
Why it helps
- Smaller uploads. One ID page instead of the household file.
- Fewer privacy leaks. Do not send pages the portal did not ask for.
Use cases
- KYC. Passport data page only.
- Finance. One statement page with the needed line items.
Examples
- Pages 3–4 of a 12-page scan. Range mode from 3 to 4, download, open, confirm the address page is there.
Common mistakes
- Extracting the wrong 1-based page because you counted a cover you forgot.
- Expecting OCR. Split does not make a scan searchable.
Tips
- Open the PDF and note printed page numbers vs PDF page index. They can differ.
- If you need many single pages, use each-page mode and unzip.
FAQ
- Can I extract non-contiguous pages (1, 5, 9)?
- This tool does a single range or every page. For a custom set, extract twice or use another editor.
- Does this unlock a password PDF?
- Encrypted files may fail. Unlock first if you have the password.
